SMEs in Turkey

This book seeks to provide insights on managerial functions of SMEs by focusing on practical implications of SMEs operating in Turkey. It covers six areas of opportunity: governance, sustainability, internationalization, foreign trade and exporting strategies, management information systems, finance and accounting.

SMEs have a lot of potential. But it is indispensable that they professionalize their business approach. This involves all levels of entrepreneurial activities. External expertise on financing alternatives, management skills, mastering transformation processes from family businesses to management led companies, language skills, and open mindedness towards new techniques, investment in high quality production, adaption to demand of international markets and constant innovation of ideas that can be turned into marketable products, and last but not least the willingness to find cooperation partners.

SMEs need a lot of support to achieve all these goals, and all relevant stakeholders foremost governmental institutions are called upon to strengthen their efforts and widen their scope of help they offer to the benefit of SMEs in Turkey.
